Our Mission

The Mount Vernon-Lisbon Police Department’s primary mission is to preserve life and property, protect the rights of all persons, maintain peace and order, prevent and detect crime, and enforce State law and local ordinances.

To accomplish this mission, members of the Mount Vernon-Lisbon Police Department are bestowed the necessary legal authority by the community we serve. The foundation of our mission is based upon our commitment to justice, equality, compassion, courtesy, dedication and professional service to others.

To ensure success in this mission, members of the Mount Vernon-Lisbon Police Department shall maintain the trust, confidence, and respect of the community we serve, by continuing to educate ourselves and our community for evolving needs and trends, having empathy for others, having strength (both physically and mentally) to meet and overcome challenges, demonstrating our commitment to providing the highest level of excellence and professional service, recognizing the need for all members to exhibit organizationally expected behavior and are willing to accept personal responsibility, while being accountable to all members of the Mount Vernon-Lisbon Police Department and the community we serve.

Parking Tickets

There are three options to pay a parking ticket:

  1. By Check – Checks can be made out to the appropriate city and mailed to or dropped off at 380 Old Lincoln Hwy, Mount Vernon, IA 52314.
  2. Over the Phone- For a fee, tickets can be paid over the phone using a credit card during normal business hours. To pay your ticket over the phone, call the non-emergency number: 319-895-6141.
  3. Online – Pay your ticket online right now!

Home Security Checks

If you are heading out of town or will be away from your home or business for an extended period of time, you can request an officer from the Mount Vernon Police Department to periodically check the property.

K9 Golf Outing 

 June 14 – K9 Golf outing! Sign up a 4 person team or be a sponsor! Our K9 program is funded by donations and fundraising efforts. The funds are used to provide training, food, medical care, and equipment for the K9 team. Contact Tasha, twhitman@mtvernonlisbonpd-ia.gov for more information.

·         HOLE SPONSOR: Hole sponsorship is $300 and your company logo will be feature on a tee box during the outing. Checks must be received by June 1st, 2024 to
ensure a tee box sign.

·        FLAG SPONSOR: Flag sponsorship is $200. As a flag sponsor your company logo will be feature on the flag or green with a defined challenge during the outing.  Checks must be received by June 1st, 2024 to ensure a flag.

·        TEAM Sign Up:  Sign up a team of 4 for the golf outing before June 7th, 2024.  Space is limited to 18 teams, so sign up early.  Guaranteed spots to the first 18 teams that
submit payment.

·        Direct cash or check donations can be made to the Mount Vernon – Lisbon Police Department K-9 Program
